PLAYHOUSE
KENT, CONNECTICUT. The program called for a two-car garage at the lower level with sufficient room for storage for bikes, a golf cart, garden furniture and a mechanical room. There was a 12 foot climb from the garage level to the main floor which had to be convenient to the upper lawn near the existing swimming pool.
This was accomplished by breaking the stair into three short sections and arriving at the top step in the entry area for the main house. Though a separate building it was in fact like an unattached addition. The general character as well as details such as the exterior railings matched the ones on the main house.
